FAQs

Can I give a custom as a gift?

Yes, and it might be one of the best gifts in skiing. You're not just giving skis, you're giving the experience of designing them. Order today, and we'll email you a certificate to print and give. When your skier is ready, they connect with their GILSON artist and design the skis themselves. They show up at their door a couple weeks later, theirs in every sense.

What kind of custom artwork can I put on my skis?

Almost anything. Pet photos, personal artwork, tattoos, family portraits, landscapes, you name it. The one restriction is intellectual property: no copyrighted logos, album covers, or TV, movie, and video game characters unless you own the rights or have written permission from the owner. If the art is yours or was made for you, we're good to go. Not sure about your idea? Run it by us. No judgment, ever.

How does the custom design process work?

You pick the channel: text, email, or DM. Your artist asks what you're thinking, and your starting point can be as small as a favorite color or as complete as a finished mockup. From there it's renderings, your feedback, and revisions until they're exactly right. You approve the final design before anything gets built. Most skiers finalize in 1 to 3 rounds, and you get as many as you need.

Can I choose which ski model my Custom is built on?

Yes. Your graphics can be built on any ski model and size GILSON makes: Freestyle 88, Freestyle 96, All Mountain, or Carver. Not sure what fits your skiing? A GILSON Builder can walk you through the options after checkout, no pressure, no guesswork.

How much does a fully custom pair of skis cost?

$1,150 all in. That covers the 1-on-1 design work with your GILSON artist, a completely original design, and the skis themselves on any model we make. No design fee, no other charges. Shop Pay installments are available at checkout.

Military, first responders, and outdoor industry professionals: reach out and we'll set you up with a personal discount code. Thank you for the work you do.

How long does it take to receive custom skis?

Three things add up to your timeline: art development (3 days to as long as you need, average about 1.5 weeks), the build (7 days), and shipping (3 to 5 days). Skiers who move fast on design have gone from order to door in about 2 weeks. Most land between 2 and 5 weeks, depending on how many design rounds you want.

Can I use photos of my pets or personal images on custom skis?

Absolutely. Pet graphics are one of our most popular custom requests. Whether a dog, cat, or any other furry (or not-so-furry) family member, our graphic designers are experienced at turning photos into beautiful ski art. Many customers honor pets who have passed away, celebrate current companions, or combine multiple pets into one design. Send clear photos from a few angles and tell us about any special touches: halos, angel wings, backgrounds, you name it.

What if I don’t have a fully developed design idea yet?

Completely normal, and some of our favorite builds start this way. Some skiers arrive with a full mockup and exact colors. Others bring "I love the color teal" or "something inspired by the mountains." Both work. Share a vibe, a palette, a rough concept, or a photo that inspires you, and you and your artist will take it from there.

What if I don't love the design?

Then we're not done. You get unlimited rounds with your artist, and nothing gets built until you approve the final design. Your artist's job isn't to get close. It's to get it exactly right.
